LilyMaps does not track users or collect personal data.
The app connects to the internet only to download map files or download GPX files when requested by the user.
GPS location is processed entirely on the device and is never sent to a server.
No background communication or server-side tracking is performed.
Note: If you use a watch platform with cloud backup (like iCloud), your recorded or imported routes may be backed up to the cloud through that platform's services. LilyMaps does not transmit this data directly to any server.
What Data We Collect: We collect no personal data. The app does not track users, collect usage statistics, or monitor user behavior.
Map Data Sourcing: Map data is mainly based on OpenStreetMap, a collaborative project created and maintained by volunteers. We download map data from OpenStreetMap and other sources as needed. The converted files (LilyFS) are stored locally on your device and are used solely for display within the application.
GPX File Handling: When you upload a GPX file, it is temporarily stored on our server to allow your watch to download it. Only people with access to the 16-digit watch identifier can download the GPX file. After the brief storage period, the file is automatically deleted from our servers and is never stored long-term. When you import a GPX file directly on your device, it is processed locally and never transmitted to any server.
GPS Location Processing: GPS location data is derived from satellite signals and processed entirely on your device. The location data is used solely for displaying your position on the map and recording your routes. No location data is transmitted to any server, and no background communication occurs.
Recorded Routes: All recorded routes (tracks) are stored and processed entirely on your watch. Routes are displayed on the map and managed locally on the device. No route data is ever transmitted to any server, and no background communication occurs for route uploads or synchronization.
